Whimsy & Tea in the media

Stories in the cloth

Stories, some overt and some less direct, are as much a part of my weavings as cotton, warp and weft. As I throw the shuttle, I weave a series of narratives into each piece of cloth …

Narratives of intention: for nourishment, beauty, worthiness and ritual.

Narratives of the heart: for what takes place at kitchen counters and kitchen sinks, over stove tops and near oven doors, at dining tables and picnic tables and on park benches.

Narratives of creative inspiration: platinum clouds of early evening, a lakeside at daybreak, tall prairie grasses, pine needles in fresh snow.

Stories in the media

My intention is that the spirit of these narratives remains present in articles about my work – and in pieces that feature collaborations I’ve been a part of: the Working Weavers Studio Trail, an open studio weekend hosted by gifted Massachusetts weavers, and Clay Wood Cloth, a trio of like-minded and like-hearted craftswomen from my time living and weaving in Sonoma County, California.

Although the store is closed, the philosophical heartbeat of Whimsy & Tea – shining a light on the ordinary that’s not so ordinary – is now expressed more fully and a little bit differently in stories and notes at WalksWithAsha.com.
