Before summer ends …

Each season has its particular joys. Before summer ends, I want to make time to …

Hang laundry on the clothesline and crawl between clean sheets that smell of sun & wind.

Pause to watch the flickering lights of fireflies when I let my dog Codi out before bed.

Breathe in the smell of freshly mown grass.

Revel in the many shades of green starting with deciduous leaves, grasses and ferns.

Savor corn on the cob, ripe heirloom tomatoes, juicy peaches, sweet cherries, fresh basil.

Listen to the gentle summer rain on the roof.

Delight in all the flowers starting with orange daylilies, mammoth sunflowers, Shasta daisies, and black-eyed Susans.

What about you? What do you want to enjoy before summer ends? I’d love to hear.

Warmly,
Marilyn

The Like a Wildflower kitchen towels were inspired by a painting by the local artist Donna Estabrooks that caught my eye at the café where I like to write. The painting is titled “May your life be like a wildflower.”

What a fun question, Marilyn! I enjoyed thinking about this 🙂

Things which come to mind for me:

    1. Go to our local theme park and ride the roller coasters.
    2. Rent a scooter and ride around the city.
    3. Get my bike tire fixed so I can get back to using my bike.
    4. Get a few more good hikes in before snow starts in the mountains.

I’d better get these on my calendar so I actually get around to doing them.

What an active list, Judy! Enjoy roller coasting, scooting, biking and hiking.

    Dear Marilyn,

Some day I WILL gift myself with one of your towels. In the meantime, though, I echo so many of your summertime ending desires. In essence, I attempt to spend as many moments outside as possible. I hunger for it.

As always, thanks for reaching out,
    Leanne

May your hunger be fed, Leanne, and may the time outside nourish you.

One of the joys of living in the Southern hemisphere is that we’re now in winter 🙂

So I plan to enjoy the snow on the mountain, the warm apples with cinnamon, the cozy evenings near the fire… dreaming of crawling between clean sheets on the clothesline.

And here I am, Anne, on a humid August day in the northern hemisphere looking forward to cooler nights!

I appreciate all the things you’d like to savor before summer comes to a close, Marilyn, but I reside in Arizona. You may have heard the rumor: It’s blazing HOT here in the summer!

Honestly, I’m so tired of being cooped up indoors with the air conditioner blasting 24/7, the fall season can’t arrive fast enough. Triple digit temperatures be gone!

LOVE the “Like a Wildflower” kitchen towels. Blue is my favorite color. 🙂

Thanks for your perspective, Melanie. We haven’t been in the triple digits here in New England, but the humidity has been wearing me down and that makes me look forward to Fall.
I’m glad you like the “Like a Wildflower” kitchen towels.
